THE REVIEW
Barry Shipp (1937-1999) was a sales representative of Revlon and created the fragrance oil version of Jovan Musk in 1972 after discovering a shop that sells musk, cannabis and other exotic scents. Then in 1973 came the softer/lighter eau de cologne version. The company was acquired by Coty and reformulated in 1994. The reformulation is the one I'm reviewing here.
Jovan Musk Cologne For Men has a refreshing opening of spicy floral notes, sharp zest of lime, a bit of herbal lavender, a tiny bit of woody note afterward, and has soapy aldehydic accords. It's a great scent... mwah!
Unfortunately, sillage is very light and lasting power is weak. The performance is just so disappointing. I think that is the problem with many long existing fragrances ruined by their new owners or reformulated to make it cheaper.

You get spicy, zesty, soapy, woody, a bit floral, aldehydic
I love this scent, but it's too mild and performs poorly
For the price I paid, it's a big disappointment
Get this if you want to experience the scent, but don't expect too much for the performance
