========================================

Mirabilis jalapa is a beautiful, fragrant and low maintenance plant. It generously produces seeds, which you can plant and wait a week to sprout, and then it would flower by its second month. Being a low maintenance plant, it doesn't need fertilizing to produce flowers and only require daily watering and sun. It does well in clay, sand, muddy soil, but it won't tolerate dryness. It loves full sun but also does well in the shade.

The common color of this flower is purple but also comes in colors like yellow, red, pale lilac, and blotched multi-colors. An edible crimson dye is obtained from the flowers to color cakes and jellies. In herbal medicine, parts of the plant may be used as a diuretic, purgative, and for vulnerary (wound healing) purposes.
