THE REVIEW
The Avon Musk 'Intense' EDC comes in a sleek bottle which is attractive to look and pleasing to handle. Each variant of Avon Musk has color-coded liquid. For example, my first one was the 'Musk For Men' in amber color. The 'Intense' variant comes in deep mint green color.
The new version being reviewed here was introduced in 2017 and comes in a beautiful sleek bottle that is also easy to handle. Here in Asia (eg. Philippines, Malaysia, India), you can find this perfume as Avon Musk 'Intense'. A similar-looking 'Fresh' variant exists in the US but it may be a different fragrance.
My first impression of the Avon Musk 'Intense' EDC is that it smells familiar and very 'common'. There were at least three local perfumes I've owned that smelled exactly the same but much cheaper. However, they also smell cheap because they give either a synthetic or an alcoholic scent. Whereas the advantage of the Avon is that the fragrance smells more premium, nothing synthetic, like everything is made of real essences.
Avon Musk 'Intense' EDC has a very pleasant spicy-herbal accord that smells refreshing and clean. It begins with a light citrus mixed with mint/menthol and the basil herb gradually becoming more present. Spicy ginger becomes stronger around 5 minutes. Sometimes I can smell cedarwood and musk very faintly in the background, but not always.
It is not my personal type of scent but it is very pleasing and refreshing that I find myself using it alot than I want to! Particularly when I come home sweaty and feeling grimy, or when it's too hot during the day and I'm sweating so much, this bottle is what I want to use over the others in my perfume collection. That is why I think the Avon Musk 'Intense' is perfect for sporty and outdoor use.
Sillage is moderate sillage and people who pass by can smell it. However, nowhere near 'Intense' at all because it quickly fades into a skin scent within half an hour. Lasting power around 2-3 hours until it totally disappears, which is typical for cologne strength. To get the best out of this perfume, moisturize your skin first before applying perfume.
My idea of an 'intense' fragrance is something bold and oriental like the scent of burnt tobacco, strong musk, smoky incense, balmy with amber, and strong woods. I think it should be renamed 'Fresh' like what it is named elsewhere in the world. Most people will like the Avon Musk 'Intense' EDC, although it is not a personal favorite. My preference is the amber-colored 'Musk For Men' variant.
