THE REVIEW

Almost two decades ago, I used to own the original red Imari from 1985 (an old school floral fragrance), the white Imari Satin from 2004 (gardenia leaning creamy vanilla), the orange Imari Bold/Fantasy of 2018 (sweet fruity, jasmine, orange blossom and caramel fantasy), the purple Imari Seduction of 2015 in roller form, and now the black Imari Velvet  (2015) for review. My favorite as of now is the orange Bold/Fantasy variant.

Imari uses color coding for its variants. Please DO NOT confuse the 'Velvet' for the new 'Elixir', they are both in black and shown as different items in Avon PH website. They have different note listings but both have mandarin, jasmine, rose, amber and vanilla. They describe 'Velvet' as having a 'chypre' accord, which means a scent built to center around woody-mossy accord.

The new version of Avon's Imari 'Velvet' is a luscious fragrance that has gives me dominating notes of peaches and pear. It smells crispy, fresh, fruity but not sweet (rather juicy/watery). There is no other or better way to describe this fragrance. It smells fruitier on dry skin, more floral on sweaty skin. At times, spicy, other times powdery and ambery. But the pear/peach scent is always consistently there.

The sillage is moderate, good enough for EDT. It lasts very long, even until the next day and the perfume is still there on my skin, releasing wafts of fruity aroma once in a while. The Avon Imari 'Velvet' EDT clings strongly on my skin, it's still on my armpits smelling nice after scrubbing hard in the shower! (I also own the orange 'Bold/Fantasy' variant and it has better sillage (I also happen to like it the most.)

Summary/Conclusion:
Central theme built around peaches and pear
Impressions of watery, juicy, light, berries
Long lasting, moderate sillage
Very affordable price, more than sulit na ito
Good scent, but not a personal favorite
My favorite Imari is the orange colored 'Bold' (aka 'Fantasy')
Looks like a scent that more mature people will appreciate (20+)
