This review was originally published in November 2011. San San has updated their products a few times ever since, like the new 2016 version that I'm also including in this post. Sa mga local makeup brands here in the Philippines, ang unang-una at long lasting na impression ko talaga with San San is how perfect their shades are. Their shades are usually yellow-based, perfectly matches my skin tone, have a wide inclusive range (around 7 shades with some having pink and neutral undertones), and are always packed with skin vitamins like A, C, and E (HBC being the skin care brand that it is).
There are three versions -- the regular one, age defense (AHA), and age defense (AHA+CoQ10). They share common traits like light to medium coverage, SPF 15, above average oil control and staying power, have powder fallouts, and have a dry chalky texture (the new 2016 version of Age Defense has a creamier silkier texture and much improved). Refills are also available. Again, the ones in review here were bought in 2011 -- new products come out as an improved version, this may not represent the new ones.

This regular version is characterized as having the best shade match for my skin tone. I owned the darkest shade #3, a light golden-beige tone. It also had a light watery scent which I liked. It's not as dusty as the next version, and the powder is easy to blend. Staying power is good for 2-3 hours, you will need to re-apply often.

This is the one in all navy blue casing, 2011 version. My least variant of the three because of dusty powder fallouts and nauseating medicated scent (probably the AHA). I owned the darkest shade, #3. It looks lighter on my skin tone with an orange-tan finish. Not as good oil control as the regular version.

I owned the darkest shade #3, still looking too light on my skin. The stock I got had a cake that was baked like a brick, literally. It was hard to get any product from the pan, I need to scrape hard. It was an okay performer.

The 2016 version has an improved packaging that looks more modern and sleek. The powder is creamy with no fallouts, and the nano-powder blends like a dream on my skin. The shade '#3 Golden' was a bit warm for my light golden-beige skin, then another one I owned, #2 was the better fit. I also noticed an improvement in the performance and oil control. It can last 6-8 hours without needing touch-ups. And I'm saying this as a person who uses this when going out under the sun. I can only sing praises for the new version!
