The first time I began to buy EB products was in 2001, particularly the face powders. In 2002, I began exploring their cheapo lipsticks. I guess the number one reason every Filipino knows EB better than any makeup brand, even if they don't use makeup, is the omnipresence -- you can find them anytime, anywhere. Particularly drugstores and convenience stores if you just don't want to travel and find something within your neighborhood.
I began using regularly the Ever Bilena Face Powder with Vitamin E since 2010. When this beauty review blog began in November 2011, it was the third product ever reviewed. As of December 2019, I bought the new 2017 version simply for photoshoot. I like that they really improved this product and it feels like going back to it was worth it. I love it because of the very affordable refills, the convenience of finding them in the convenience store and anywhere, very reliable photo-perfect finish (I bought it primarily for photoshoot now in 2019), and a natural look.
The similarities of the 2010 and 2017 versions is that they have the same delicious candy scented powder and the shade 'Honey', which is my go-to shade, is still the same brightening effect on the skin. I get the same smooth matte finish, oil control and lasting power. Now the difference...
2010 - Simple white packaging. The powder had thick cakey coverage and felt like a powder foundation. The finish looks very pale, albeit peachy and brightens up my skin. It looks way off from my naturally honey-beige skin. It does get a bit gritty on the skin when I start oiling later in the day.
2017 - A more modern and attractive packaging, black casing. The noticeable difference is that the powder is now very fine like nano particles and has a finer texture on the skin. The finish is very sheer so that I only see my skin on close-up, as if there's no powder at all. The effect is that the shade still has the same brightening effect, but less peachy and actually closer to my skin tone.
In the past, I have owned two others shades -- Natural, which is too pale, and Tan, which is a rosy-red blushing color rather than actually golden brown. I didn't like both of them. Thank you once again Ever Bilena for offering Filipinos something very affordable yet quality products.
Great: affordable, refillable, reliable performance, great for photoshoots
Against: I used to write complaints about the older one, but there is nothing else to improve with the new 2017 version!
I will update this post yet again
for pictures of the new 2017 version.
