PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
"The scent so legendary that it remains to be one of the top selling fragrances up to this date since its release is the 1920's. Even Marilyn Monroe was quoted to say she wears this scent to bed. Rightfully so, the soft powdery top notes combined with intense florals like ylang-ylang, rose and jasmine and a rich base of musk, vanilla, amber and patchouli makes this such a perfume of class and elegance."

THE REVIEW
Scent Swatch is a local brand of perfume that makes inspired-by eau de parfum. One of their unique features is their colorful way of identifying specific variants. I've used several variants -- Anise, Bondi Blue, Old Rose, Laurel, Musk, Vanilla, Marigold, and Blue. I am judging this perfume based on its impact and performance, not based on how close it replicates the inspiration scent.
Bottles come in several sizes. The typical 60mL sells for PhP 390.00, but I can get the smaller 30mL if I'm not sure about liking the scent. The prices look reasonable in proportion to its volume and performance.
Over a decade ago, my office friend took me to a fragrance shop to sample scents. I heard about the Chanel No.5 and smelled if out of curiosity. It smells old school floral with something chemical about it or 'amoy gamot'. I never forgot that smell.
It's hard to pinpoint the notes, but the overall impression of the SS 'Marigold' is aldehydic, soapy, powdery, a bit spicy like cinnamon, and a little bit floral (smells like dried roses and ylang-ylang). It has a close copy of the original Chanel No.5 but more on the aldehydes than florals.
Sillage and lasting power vary among the variants. The 'Marigold' has good lasting power for an eau de parfum, but the sillage is just mild. They probably intentionally made it that way, thinking most people would find it cloying (as other reviews pointed out).
Summary/Conclusion:
Close copy of original Chanel No.5, more on aldehydic
Aldehydic, soapy, powdery, minimal floral
It is old school floral, most people might not like it
This is one of my favorite Scent Swatch variants, hoping it could be more cloying!
Good value for money in terms of performance and volume
Suits mature audience or bold wearers
