Product Description

"What makes a true perfume classic? Some might say it’s a scent that celebrates the most quintessential ingredients in the perfumer’s palette, the raw materials that have brought us pleasure and delight for centuries. Others might say it’s a scent designed with all the elegance of traditional fragrance structure. Some might argue that it’s neither ingredients nor design, but proof of real staying power on the marketplace. Perfumer’s Workshop Tea Rose is a true perfume classic because it represents all three: timeless ingredients, traditional structure, and a market performer prized by generations of women around the globe. For forty years, Perfumer’s Workshop Tea Rose has enchanted women-and the men who adore them-with true, classic, well-balanced and authentic rose aroma. There is no rose fragrance on the market today that is more timeless, more honest, or more classic than Perfumer’s Workshop Tea Rose."

REVIEW

I vividly recall as a little child in 1987, that my aunt brought home a bottle of this perfume one night and put it on the upright piano just above the keyboard and slightly off center to the right. It smelled of nothing but purely rose bomb, the most authentic rose fragrance you can ever have without sweetness. It was a thick rose smell and heavy with something grassy (like cedarwood or bamboo underneath the rose note). My father was a chain smoker since I could recall and up until 2018 -- I would secretly make a spray of that perfume to mask the smell of cigarette smoke choking me, giving me asthma attacks and somewhat sleepless at night. In a way, that was my first ever appreciation of perfume; but I have always been the type of person who likes to admire beautiful flowers, beautiful scenes like the sky and trees, gorgeous handsome men, delicious scents and tastes.

I have been having fond warm memories of that night the perfume was introduced to my life, and gladly surprise to see that it was available in local selling platforms. The perfume looks to be legit authentic and the seller also assures. Not tester, not class A, not overrun, not reject or whatever fancy term they can call for a fake/counterfeit (very prevalent in online sites!).

When the perfume arrived, I was crumbling from nostalgia, somewhat shook. The color of the box is exactly as vividly remembered from 1987. The bottle was the same. The liquid in the bottle was a light yellow amber color, I do remember it was slightly more brownish back in 1987?

I began to wonder then whether the perfume was indeed authentic or just another fake. It was not the thick rose note with woody note underneath, but a mildly sweet floral fragrance, some people and I even remarked it smelled somewhat like fabric conditioner. Far from red roses. Moreover, the scent was light and does not last very long, far from what I remembered. The one from 1987 was a cloying rose bomb with just a tiny spray and lasts forever in the room. Whereas the bottle I was using now was very faint and still doesn't have impact after literally bathing in this perfume from top to bottom. It disappears after two minutes!

I'm really tempted to think this bottle I bought wasn't authentic. Or they really reformulated the perfume, as do so many legendary fragrances, updated with watered-down concentration. Maybe I'll just order directly from their website next time...
