Chicharon bituka are cracklings made of pork's intestines, but chicken intestines (isaw) are also being sold as chicharon. Large intestines of pork are called 'chicharon bulaklak'. This delicacy gives you a pungent nutty deep fried aroma, I used to buy from some vendors that even add ginger to the recipe.

It is often taken with a dash of salt/MSG and then dipped in vinegar. However, I like to do it my way and eat it as it is, or even make it as ulam for rice, then flush it down with a strong bitter tea, or maybe a liter of San Miguel Pale Pilsen. Great!

This article was originally published in 2013. At this time, 50 grams was selling for 42 Pesos. Now in 2019, it's already 60 Pesos.
