I owned both old and new versions of the Kokuryu Cream Cake Foundation back in 2012. The old packaging had a very brittle plastic casing, but I liked the huge pan. On the contrary, the new one looks obviously more modern, but the content was a bit smaller than the old version.
There's a scent that makes you think 'granny's makeup'. This foundation looks to be oil-based, greasy and shiny when applied on the face. It doesn't help either to apply powder over it as it will just eat the powder. As described by Kokuryu, this makeup is best for outdoor, sports, and swimming. Even maybe well for mature wrinkled skin. It has a good hold (does not streak or melt) and staying power. However, this foundation is highly comodogenic. Madalas ako magkazits after using it. Not for everyday use.
As for the shades, they only have limited stocks. The old packaging was shade #302 (orangey shade), while the new packaging (sigh) only has pinkish undertone shades available so I had the #202. The ones I owned looked okay for my light golden-beige skin tone with a little work. However, if you will buy, be careful and look if the ones on display have pinkish or yellowish undertone.
If you read the description, the use and function of this foundation makes plenty of sense -- it is waterproof and best for swimming or outdoor sports. Not for regular everyday use.
