Rats live an average of 2 to 3 years. One year of a rat's life is equivalent to 30 years of human life. 2 years is equivalent to 60 years, and so on. My rats normally live just a little short from reaching 24 months. Nalulungkot ako palagi dahil napakaikling panahon lang ang dalawang taon nila. That's why rat birthdays mean alot to me. It doesn't have to be something grand, but it's the moment of celebration that we try to preserve.
Some of you might remember that Thoriel (he's a wild rat!) and Squall guested on national TV back in August for a feature about pet rats. It was a very rewarding experience because people saw that they're not vicious creatures or bringers of disease. Audiences have grown to love pet rats ever since, even if they were not keen on having rats as pets. The positive feedback was overwhelming!
Thoriel (agouti) and Agatha (black selfie) had the honor to bite in first since they're the celebrants of the day. Agatha was a little camera shy and wanted to be alone in her hiding place, while Thoriel was so used to the camera he didn't mind the closeups at all! Later on, the rest of the gang joined in for the feast.
