Bought online in 2012. Is it authentic or fake? There were some speculations that some of the NYX's were indeed made in Taiwan and had a super buttery consistency (same as what I have). Some authentic ones have a delicious aroma, while others had an offensive soapy scent (which is also the case with mine).
The consistency of this lipstick was super buttery. It was solid and fine but after one month, began to melt in the tube and broke off. This product contains waxes, colorants and Vitamin E. It does not contain any parabens, but instead contains BHA (Butylated hydroxyanisole). I'm not so sure about this, but it could be carcinogenic according to scientific literature.
One of the things why NYX is so popular is because of the buttery texture and their dizzying range of shades to choose from. I wanted a paler than nude and ended up with 'Pecan Pie'. This shade is two notches lighter than my lip color, and the color payoff is very poor -- it applies very thinly and unevenly, then it doesn't last longer than an hour.
Conclusion: Authentic or fake? The strong soapy soapy scent and bad aftertaste. Poor color payoff and performance. Wide color range to pick from. I still won't buy another one, it's traumatizing.
