This luscious lippie was gifted to me by a friend on Valentine’s Day 2013. The following day, I dropped by the nearest Max Factor to fill in some details about the product. Max Factor Color Elixir Lipstick comes in a gold colored cap which gives it a premium appeal. Max Factor's logo is embedded onto the lipstick bullet and it has a luscious butterscotch candy scent.

It smoothly glides on the lips with a fairly opaque pigmentation (at least for the shade 'Maroon Dust'), and also doubles as a lip balm with a light creamy sheen and doesn't feel heavy on the lips. Contains Vitamin E, Avocado Oil and other emollients to keep the lips soft and smooth all day. I don't know with the other shades, but mine lasts around 4 hours and needs re-application once in a while during the day. Given the retail price, I might be better off with a real lip balm if I want a nude shade with healing properties.

'Maroon Dust' is a strange name to call this color because it gives me a champagne or peachy nude shade. However, this is a beautiful nude color for me, it's just right and even men can wear it with confidence. According to the assistant, their most sellable shades were Raisin, Rosewood, Chili, Bitching Coral, Burnt Caramel, Sunbronze, Pink Brandy, Ruby Tuesday, and Pomegranate.

Conclusion: I think that the name of the product is right. It's a healing elixir for the lips and they have a colorful range to offer, but not necessarily something I'd expect for lasting power. You know me well, if I would get other shades, they are the Mulberry, Aubergine and Raisin. Thank you again friend!
