There's nothing but purely authentic regional Filipino dishes in Tambayan Sa Kanto. |
Did the travel bug just bite you? TSK brings authentic regional Filipino dishes together in one place just for you... it's like you've traveled and tasted the whole Philippines! They're continually working to add more dishes that would surely please your taste bud cravings.
According to the General Manager Ms.
Margaret Streegan, they do no want to join the bandwagon of fusion restaurants but rather to maintain the authenticity of the dishes so you would feel as if you were travelling in a specific region in the Philippines. Ms. Margaret is also very hands-on when she's around to oversee the quality and flavor of the dishes.
During our visit (August 2014), we were served with their bestsellers. Before the main course, there was a serving of
Steamed Pandan Rice (P 45.00) and then the
KBL (Kadyos, Baboy, Langka aka
Black-Eyed Peas, Pork and Jackfruit). Time suddenly stood still when out comes the
Crispy Bagnet (P 488.00) -- any pork lovers' dream come true! Super soft and tender from the skin down to the meat.

The
Ensaladang Filipino (P 150.00) is a dish with grilled eggplant, tomatoes, onions, green mango and shrimp paste. This would be good as appetizer, but also great for in-between dishes. BUT especially great after the
Crispy Bagnet.
Crispy Tadyang ng Baka (P 395.00) is another bestseller here (they're all bestsellers anyway). The meat is exquisitely soft while being crispy at the same time and never rubbery in texture.

The
Coconut Crusted Prawns (P 438.00). I didn't know what was gonna be served next but you could literally smell it from the distance as the dish was being brought upstairs. This dish is delightfully flavor-full promise. Who doesn't love prawns!

Tilapia with Laing. The fish is stuffed with tomatoes and other spices, and it's de-boned. The meat is cooked so tender and yet it also has a mild sweet taste.
Garlic Chicken and Camote Chips (P 375.00). I loved the chips! Plain crunchy and mildly sweet. The Garlic Chicken has a mild flavor with garlic aroma, it's an inviting sensation to indulge some more in the main course before moving on to dessert.

Now here's dessert to finish off the course --
Leche Flan (P 150.00),
Macapuno strings, Halo-Halo Turon (P 150.00), Ripe Mango Shake (P 80.00), and
Green Mango Shake (P 80.00). A fit and rightful way to end this feast!
It's been a pleasure having dinner with everyone. Thanks for this super memorable evening. My favorites for the evening were: 1)
Crispy Bagnet, 2)
Crispy Tadyang ng Baka, 3)
Halo Halo Turon and 4)
Mango Shake. Do you have your wishlist or favorites yet?
