LAMON KRONICLES: Tahir's Kitchen featuring Middle Eastern Cuisine Tailored for the Filipino Taste! (August 16, 2014)

Tahir's Kitchen, Lamon Kronicles
Tahir's Kitchen features a fusion of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Asian cuisine.

What comes to mind when Mediterranean/Eastern Cuisine is mentioned? Spices, nuts, dates and raisins, kebabs, shawarma and lots of meat. These are just some of the foods that have become part of Filipino culture and a favorite. On August 16th, we had the chance to chat with Mrs. Martina, the co-owner of the restaurant. They only opened on July 18... less than one month in operation and it's already a big hit with the resto already crowded with people! For those who may be interested to give them a visit, they have ample parking space, a wide dining area, and a garden with pool which could be converted into a tent during banquets and events.

The Dishes

As for their dishes, they're not as spicy as one would expect because according to them, the dishes had been tailored to be friendly to the Filipino tastebuds. The dishes that we tried have been very enjoyable and indeed, there's no funky spice and they were just right for me.

Appetizers
The Roti and Tabulet make for a great appetizer, and you could dip them with the refreshing taste of the yogurt+mint sauce. The rich creamy Lentil Soup... I mistook it for pumpkin soup at first since that's the one we all got used to. The Hamas is a dish that's made of garlic and ground chick peas plus olive oil. I get a pleasant kick of spiciness to it but not too much.

Main Course
Chicken Kebab with Rice is a good dish. The rice only has a mild curry taste to it with the generous addition of cashew and raisins in it. The chicken kebab is cooked softly and with a little crisp to it. Lambergini... oh my gerd! Definitely my favorite in the set!!! The rice is just like the aforementioned but it's got an addition of shredded lamb meat. The slices of lamb meat are exquiiiiiiiiiiisitely soft, I could just chew once and then swallow already. Chicken Shawarma is a must try since it's very fulfilling. The chicken has a curry flavor and it's just as good as the ones in the kebab mentioned earlier.

Dessert
Koufi Ice Cream. It's almost the same like the regular ice cream we love, except it comes in a muffin shape and it's very flavor-full. There is a swirling combination of vanilla, chocolate and cooling mint as it flows down my throat. A great way to end the lamon session and clear the throat.

Conclusion
As for the price, each dish ranges around P350, and the serving is large enough for 2 to 3 persons. In addition, they are also planning to expand their business by putting up a comedy bar right beside it. And take note, this might be the only comedy bar around yet along Katipunan Avenue! Thank you so much to Tahir's Kitchen for having us. The dishes were very exquisite and tailored for the Filipino taste bud. If there had to be favorites, I'd be more than glad to vote for 1) Lambergini, 2) Chicken Shawarma, and 3) Koufi Ice Cream.
